My
name is Brian Fort and I have been a resident of Sidney, NE for
nearly 17 years. My background is diverse with experience in loss
prevention management, corporate sales, law enforcement, and the U.S.
Army National Guard Military Police (95B) both as an officer (1LT)
and enlisted (E-5). I resigned my commission as a First Lieutenant in
1999 after 12.5 years.
I worked for Walmart for 13 years as a
District Loss Prevention Manager responsible for stores in Minnesota,
Iowa and Wisconsin. I had the privilege of working at Cabela’s
Corporate for 10 years on the merchandising side of the business,
driving retail and internet sales along with product development.
My
extensive background in sales, leading people, managing P&L,
budgeting, merchandising, and marketing led me to my current
position. I direct all metal detector sales in the U.S. and Canada
for Garrett, which is a “Made In the USA” metal detecting
company. Garrett allows me to combine my favorite hobby with my
career. I have a passion for researching history and hunting for
relics. I am fortunate to work remotely based out of Sidney, NE for
this innovative company based out of Texas.
I
have worked for some of the largest companies in the world and have
acquired the necessary skills to manage and analyze budgets. I have
been responsible for 100+-million-dollar budgets and managed hundreds
of people in both the retail world and in the military. I promise I
will do my part to ensure the city of Sidney gets back on track with
its 36-million-dollar budget. I will work to stop the overspending
that resulted in over taxation of Sidney residents created by poor
choices from the incumbents. My platform is simple, eliminate
wasteful spending and reduce taxes for the hard working people of
Sidney.
I
am here for the citizens of Sidney and not for any personal gain or
advancement.
I am not afraid to stand up for what is right. I will
vote against all needless spending and unnecessary debt resulting in
tax increases for Sidney residents. I will allow all citizens to be
heard both at your door, as I am campaigning, and during city
meetings. Change is coming and I need your vote on May 14th to get
the job done.
When
I observed our current city council, mayor and city manager
continuing to make poor decisions with our tax dollars, I knew it was
time to get involved. My goal is to unseat the current incumbents and
implement positive changes to improve the city of Sidney. I want to
incorporate accountability within our city government and give the
people a voice.
We cannot continue to allow the city council to spend
our tax dollars like it is their personal checking account. It is
time to hold all incumbents accountable for not being financially
responsible and transparent with our tax dollars.
I
have been married to my wife, Donna, for over 31 years and we have
three adult children. Our two oldest children have both graduated
from college with honors. Our youngest daughter is a senior at the
University of Nebraska - Lincoln and a four year member of the
Cornhusker Marching Band. We are proud parents!
My
wife and I are co-owners of Venture Gear Outdoors LLC based in
Sidney, NE which we founded in 2019. We enjoy being small business
owners promoting a variety of products and services.
I
appreciate your support and vote on May 14th. Thank You!
