CANDIDATE QUESTIONNAIRE
1. What is your main purpose in running for this position?
I feel like I can bring fresh and new ideas to the city without spending, listen to the people and what they want.
2. Have you ever held another office, if so where?
No, this would be my first if I was elected
3. What are your qualifications for this position?
I'm a business owner, a mom and a homeowner. I'm very much connected to the town in many different ways. I feel like I have a good understanding of what we can do to improve our city.
4. Do you have any specific goals you are looking to achieve during your term?
Stop the overspending of the city and invoke voting for the citizens on major loans and where that money should go.
5. How do you propose growing local businesses?
More social media broadcasting and encouraging more businesses to come to Cheyenne county. Possibly more meetings with local businesses for encouragement of growth.
6. What do you think about transportation and infrastructure challenges here?
No issues with the transportation but the infrastructure definitely needs repairs including city buildings, roads and bridges. The underground water way could definitely use an upgrade as well.
7. How would you get the community more involved in decision-making for the city?
Voting on any bonds/loans over $100,000 and where that money should be spent.
8. There have been some safety concerns and crime issues that seem to have increased lately--how would you address those issues?
The police need better pay and more/ better incentives. Therefore we can hire more police and patrol more around town, security cameras around town would be a bonus.
9. What's your stance on the EPIC proposal?
I believe it's a great deal. Cutting the property taxes, inheritance tax and taxes on used items is a big save and therefore more disposable income can be utilized in town in small businesses it will also help our local farmers too.
10. What would your priorities be in allocating city financial resources?
I believe taking care of the city buildings and parks should be at the top of the list again roads need to be paved and properly maintained.
11. How will you ensure that citizens are well-informed and feel confident that their voices are heard and represented?
I think we could set up an email system along with the social media pages in order to inform people. A voting system in place is a must.
12. Sidney and Cheyenne County have challenges and problems to fix/resolve. Are you confident you can fix/resolve these problems, like the time that you fixed/resolved...?
Yes I believe a team of the right people can fix and resolve most of the problems in town, obviously I'm not perfect no one is but here to do the best I can for the people. My husband and I got the bullying of our daughter stopped so I'm pretty happy about that, that's another huge problem in this town BULLYING.
13. How long have you been a resident of Sidney and/or Cheyenne County?
8 years.
