Sidney Dies a Little More

And Sidney Dies a Little More....
It is 2am and I can't sleep. I spent last evening chatting with a young couple that is now leaving Sidney. Right now, my heart is breaking for them. They see no future here with taxes going up, no way for them to buy a house now. Early last month I asked them to stay a little longer and give our LB644 hearing a chance to change our leader's minds. Our leaders ignored us. People showed up and spoke, but 2 were not there to hear us. Yesterday they raised our taxes and home values. Destroying the ability of this couple to stay here. They are moving to Wyoming. Sidney dies a little more.

It is 2am and Grayson just made an amazing comment on our last post. It gives me hope. Your right Grayson, the people should be deciding, but our leaders are doing it because no one stands up and takes the power back. Many here see the need for change but stay quiet and do nothing and Sidney dies a little more.

I gave a 10-minute interview to a local news station after our LB644 hearing, telling the reporter about some of the painful stories of the people and all they reported was, David Jansen spoke for 21 minutes at the meeting. That was it, zip, nada, nothing, just fluff reporting that doesn't even feel right. Reported nothing I said and the stories of pain our citizens are feeling. Waste of time. Sidney dies a little more.

I keep telling myself we are slowly making progress, it has only been 2 months since we started the campaign for change, and the people in Cheyenne County are waking up, but is it too late? How many more people we will lose before we overcome the fear of saying something? I have a neighbor here who talks to me about how terrible it is. 4th generation Sidney resident. He will not even put a sign in his yard supporting Jordan Hajek because he is afraid his boss will retaliate against him. The swamp in Sidney is strong, the amount of fear and repression is amazing, and because of it, Sidney dies a little more.

On average 3,000 people engage with each post I make here on the page. ½ the population of Cheyenne county which is pretty good for Facebook. 3,000 people, but we get less than 100 likes and shares. Fear is real, many are even afraid to click like, they agree, but are afraid. Sidney dies a little more.

They can't touch you! Look at us? Is anyone stopping us? Yes, we have money, and lawyers but most important is we have a constitution that protects us. We are the heartland of America. If you don't believe that no one can legally touch you, then Sidney dies a little more.

I was down when I started this, then Grayson's comment has now picked me back up again. Made me determined for change. This is what we do for each other. Do not sit there and quietly agree with this post. You need to like it, share it, and talk to your neighbors. We need to come together Thursday evening and together we make a plan for change. We will do it together as a community. If you don't right now step up...... Sidney will die a little more. Please help. Help us fight this swamp that is destroying our neighbors.
